Founding Executive Role | Remote (US)

Mate is seeking a founding CTO to lead platform architecture, engineering execution, and long-term technical strategy.

This is a hands-on executive role for a builder who wants to shape product, infrastructure, and engineering culture from the ground up.

We are pre-scale, launching first at Purdue, with plans to expand to additional campuses.

  • AI-assisted engineering workflows and automation
  • Technical hiring and team building
  • Security and data protection practices
  • Engineering velocity and execution standards

You will directly influence product direction alongside the founder.

Current Stack

  • iOS / SwiftUI
  • React, TypeScript, Tailwind
  • Node.js, AWS Lambda
  • Serverless Framework (Infrastructure as Code)
  • Figma-based design-to-code workflow
  • AI-assisted development tooling (Claude Code, Codex)

Development Environment & AI Workflow Direction

We are actively building toward an AI-first engineering workflow designed to:

  • Run multiple AI-assisted code generation agents in parallel
  • Iterate on feature variants rapidly
  • Generate automated build outputs and preview artifacts
  • Increase engineering velocity through structured agent orchestration

Our infrastructure includes remote Mac mini build machines and AI-assisted tooling.

The CTO will play a key role in shaping and formalizing this workflow as the company scales.

Ideal Candidate

  • Experience shipping and scaling consumer products
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity
  • Strong product instinct, not just systems mindset
  • Hands-on coder willing to build early
  • Interested in building and leading a team over time
