Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Founding Executive Role | Remote (US)

Mate is seeking a founding Chief Operating Officer to lead operational strategy, growth execution, and scalable expansion across campuses.

This is a zero-to-one leadership role focused on building systems - not inheriting them.

We are launching first at Purdue and expanding campus-by-campus through a structured, high-quality event model. The COO will design and operationalize the playbook for scale.

What You'll Own

  • Campus launch strategy and expansion roadmap
  • Ambassador and community growth systems
  • Event operations, quality control, and scheduling infrastructure
  • KPI tracking, performance dashboards, and growth metrics
  • Funnel optimization (waitlist -> event -> retention -> repeat usage)
  • Strategic partnerships (student orgs, Greek life, campus groups)
  • Operational hiring as the company scales

You will work directly with the Founder and CTO to align product, growth, and execution.

Operational & Business Infrastructure

In addition to growth execution, you will:

  • Establish foundational operational processes and internal systems
  • Coordinate with legal counsel and external advisors
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial visibility
  • Help implement scalable compliance and vendor workflows
  • Ensure operational discipline as the company expands campuses

This role oversees business infrastructure - not performs bookkeeping or legal services directly.

Experience in early-stage startups, growth operations, consulting, campus organizations, or marketplace platforms is a plus.
